Walk the history, not just the itinerary: our WWII Europe journey

World Travelers · October 2026

Most WWII itineraries are a list of monuments connected by long bus days. Ours is built the other way round: around a historian who can stand in a field in Normandy and make you see what happened there, and around a pace that lets it land.

Why a historian host changes the trip

At the American cemetery above Omaha Beach, a guide will tell you the numbers. A historian will tell you who the men in a single row were, where they came from, and why they were on that beach that morning. The difference is the whole trip. Our host travels with the group from the first dinner to the last, so the story builds day by day rather than restarting with each local guide.

The route

Normandy first, with time at the beaches, Pointe du Hoc, Sainte-Mère-Église and the cemetery. Then east through the Ardennes to Bastogne and the Battle of the Bulge sites, with a day that is deliberately slower. We end in a city with a proper hotel and a farewell dinner. There is no day with more than a few hours on the coach, and there are two-night stays throughout so you unpack.

Who it is for

Travelers who read history, children and grandchildren of those who served, and anyone who wants to understand the ground rather than photograph it. Walking is moderate and surfaces are uneven in places; we will tell you plainly what each day asks of you.

The details we handle

Air from your home city built around the group’s arrival, pre-trip nights in Paris if you want them, travel insurance, and transfers at both ends. One registration page, one deposit schedule, and a host who knows your name before you land.
