What a world cruise actually costs, line by line

The fare is the headline. The real budget for a world cruise has eight or nine lines, and the people who enjoy the voyage most are the ones who saw all of them before they deposited.
Start with what the fare includes
On a full Crystal world cruise the published fare carries more than most people expect: a business-class air allowance, private transfers between the airport, hotel and ship, luggage valet so your trunks go from your front door to your suite, a pre-cruise hotel night, shipboard credit, gratuities, and open bars and specialty dining on board. Read the inclusion list for the exact sailing you are considering, because segments and full voyages are not always identical, and ask us to confirm anything that matters to you in writing.
The lines that sit outside the fare
Travel insurance is the first. For a voyage of this length and value, a policy with strong medical, evacuation and cancel-for-any-reason terms is not optional, and the premium scales with the fare. Budget for it early, because the best cancel-for-any-reason terms are only available for a short window after your first deposit.
Air beyond the allowance is the second. If you want a specific routing, a stop on the way out, or a return from a port other than the one in the brochure, the difference comes out of pocket. We build air around embarkation day rather than the other way round, and we tell you the difference before ticketing.
Then the quieter items: visas for a handful of countries on a typical itinerary, a pre-cruise hotel beyond the night included, spa and salon, shore excursions outside the included program, private touring in the ports you care most about, and what you spend ashore over four months. None of these is large on its own. Together they are a real number and they belong in the plan.
What past guests save
Crystal recognizes returning guests with a savings on the fare, and combinable early-booking savings are common when a voyage first opens. Ensemble agencies like ours can add amenities on eligible sailings. We lay these out on one page so you can see the net number, not the brochure number.
A worked example
For two guests in a mid-range suite on the 2027 Crystal World Cruise, the fare is the largest line by far, the air allowance covers most or all of a business-class ticket from Salt Lake City, and insurance is typically the next largest line after the fare. Visas, private touring and the pre-cruise hotel usually land in the low five figures combined. We will build this for your suite category and your travel style, and we will show you where the real choices are.
